TEMPORAL SUMMATION OF AMPLITUDE-MODULATED NOISE

The temporal summation of constant sounds is estimated by different authors at the rate of about 150-200 ms. At the same time the question of the temporal summation of variable sounds, particularly amplitude-modulated, is remained open. What is critical: duration of modulated signal or number of modulation cycles? We investigated the temporal summation of the amplitude-modulated wideband noise. The function of modulation was sinusoidal and had frequency 6, 30 or 150 Hz. The threshold amplitude of the modulation was determined by force-choice procedure. It was found that the threshold stabilization occurs at the same number of cycles (18-20) at all modulation frequency. Then we determined thresholds depending on modulation function (continuous, interrupted periodical, interrupted no periodical). It was found that the amplitude modulation is essentially easier detected when the function is continuous. It suggests that there are the universal special mechanisms of the temporal summation of amplitude-modulated sounds in a human auditory system.

Key words: auditory system, amplitude modulation, temporal summation, detection thresholds.

Understanding of intentions in situation of deception by children with typical development and autistic children

E.I. Lebedeva

Senior research assistant, Psychological Institute of RAS, Moscow

The results of comparative study of understanding of intentions in the situation of deception by normal children and by autistic ones as the phenomenon of cognitive representations about other people’ inner world are presented. 92 children with typical development (age from 3 to 6) and 44 children with autistic disorders of different spectrum (age from 5 to 11) took part in this study. Age dynamics of intentions’ understanding in the situation of deception is determine by the degree of development of “model of psychic”. At the age of four children begin to discern the lie and understand the intentions of the other person in the situation of the simple deception. From five years they understand “harmless lie” in situation when intentions to deceive are implicit. Lack of understanding of lie by children with autism is accounted for the deficiency of “model of psychic” development. The decrease in the level of mentality in preschool ages has an influence on formation of other people inner world understanding.

Key words:“model of psychic”, understanding of intentions, understanding of lie and “harmless lie”, children with typical development and with autistic disorders of different spectrum

Control of behavior in different pregnancy courses

J. V. Kovaleva*, E.A. Sergienko**

* PhD, research assistant, Psychological Institute of RAS, Moscow

** Sc.D. (psychology), head of laboratory, the same place

Integrative characteristic of personality - control of behavior as integration of cognitive, emotional and volitional person’s resources – is considered to be the basis for self-regulation. By the example of pregnancy – natural model of difficult life situation – it is shown experimentally that carrying without somatic complications is correlated with the high level of development and the degree of co-ordination of components of behavior control as well as with individual women’s maturity and supported early family experience. Individual characteristics of babies born in different groups of women were received and analyzed. More effective system of control of behavior by women with successful pregnancy correlates with the high level of mental and behavioral development as well as with the adaptive temperament’s types of their children after birth.

Key words: regulation of behavior, control of behavior, subject, integrative characteristic of personality, early childhood experience

**junior member of socio-political chair of Financial Academy under the RF Government, Moscow

***PhD, research assistant of posttraumatic stress laboratory, Psychological Institute of RAS, Moscow

The results of the empiric study of the role of attachment types in addictive behavior genesis and dynamics are stated. Drug addict mother’s type of attachment was the object of the study. “The Adult Attachment Interview” was used for the analysis of the main patterns of mother’s relationship. The results showed that intensity of mother’s unreliable (anxious and distant) attachment is the risk factor for her child’s addictive behavior development. During rehabilitation children of mothers with unreliable attachment are less subjected to the risk of drugs reuse. At the same time distant mother’s attachment is the most negative for successful rehabilitation of drug addicted patients.
